Southern right whales and Humpback whales are the most frequently spotted whales along Australia’s coastline. Populations spend their summer months in Antarctica feeding and migrate north for warmer waters to breed. They return south again in spring. Humpback whales migrate around 5000 km on average, one of the longest migratory journeys of any mammal on Earth.
