Spring events in Tassie

September

Great Eastern Wine Week

The Great Eastern Wine Week is a collective of events at the region’s boutique wineries and other local businesses showcasing the finest food and wine on Tassie’s East Coast. Meet the winemakers, the growers, the producers, and the people behind the wine.

Junction Arts Festival

Launceston hosts the Junction Arts Festival in early September. Billed as an intimate festival of ‘extraordinary experiences in unusual spaces’. Think architecture open days, dance, light and music performance, and a program of art, music, and food.

October

Devonport Food and Wine Festival

Held during the month of October, the Devonport Food and Wine Festival celebrates the food and drinks of north west Tassie, known for superb apples, potatoes, seafood, beef, berries, even fresh wasabi and saffron. The festival features a packed program of cooking classes, dinners, wine tastings and workshops.

Tulips

The colourful Tassie tulip season runs from late September to early October and one of the best places to see our tulips is on the north west coast at Table Cape, near Wynyard. The fertile volcanic soil of the region is ideal for growing tulips with bulbs grown here exported to the Netherlands.

Visit the 90-acre Table Cape Tulip Farm where they grow more than 80 varieties.

The Unconformity

The Unconformity isn’t your usual arts festival. For a start it’s inspired by a rare geological unconformity and the remarkable cultural paradoxes of Queenstown, a small mining community on Tassie’s West Coast. At the biennial event, you’re encouraged to meet the locals, walk the landscapes, and enjoy contemporary arts and cultural activities held around this unique town.

November

Farmgate Festival

For two days you can unearth the produce of northern Tasmania’s Tamar Valley. A special group of farmers will open their farm gates so you can learn about, taste and buy beef, apples, pork, hazelnuts, wine, cider, truffles, seafood, herbs, olive oil, berries and more. Self-drive the Tamar Valley or experience a festival feast prepared by one of our local Tassie chefs.
